Many web designers or bloggers who use Windows or Mac don't know that there are scads of icons out there on the net that are available for royalty-free use because they are part of open source software or their authors have made them freely available. And because they are in PNG format, you don't need any special software to edit or view them (you will need a program like
WinZip to open the files they come packaged in, though).

Some of these free icon sets include
Kids and
Crystal by
Everaldo Cohen, as well as the
Nuvola set by
David Vignoni. There are also many more (along with previews of each set) available at
KDE-Look.org or
art.gnome.org.
Many free icon artists also produce art on demand for companies. If you like their work, consider hiring one of these guys to design your next business logo.
